Giving What We Can inspires donations to the world’s most effective organisations by creating a culture in which people are encouraged to give more, and give more effectively

Giving What We Can supports a growing community of effective givers who have pledged to donate a significant portion of their incomes to highly effective charities.

Giving What We Can was one of the first in a growing network of like-minded organisations focused on effective altruism — the project of using evidence and reason to figure out how to best contribute to helping others, and taking action on that basis.

In our latest impact report we estimated that an average Giving What We Can Pledge results in ~$73,000 of (counterfactually adjusted and time-discounted) donations to effective charities.

We’re a nonprofit funded by philanthropic donations, and all of our programmes are free.
